Local Economic Development(LED) creates the conditions for economic growth and improved quality of life by expanding the capacity of individuals, businesses, and communities. LED aims to maximize the use of the talents and skills to support innovation, lower transaction costs, and responsibly produce and trade valuable goods and services.

Nevertheless, LED's focus should not be only on the production of goods and services, but also the reproductive sphere of environmental, social and cultural activities. Consequently, LED is considered as a cyclic process of production and re-production, and if it is neglected to reproduce the environmental, social and cultural resources it might end up with the breakdown of the locality and its community.
