The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention) has reported on an upcoming mangrove rehabilitation and replanting project in two of the Marshall Islands’ wetlands of international importance, Namdrik and Jaluit Atolls. The project aims to: increase community resilience to climate change on both atolls by restoring some of the existing degraded mangrove areas; and raise awareness of the value of mangroves conservation and restoration as a climate change adaptation measure through their role as coastal buffers and their significance for food security. The project is supported by the Australian Government, under its International Climate Change Adaptation Initiative (ICCAI).
