Discussion details
The Project positioning of Forest Governance in Colombia, Carder led with the financing of the European Union, made the last socialization model to calculate forest illegality, which was approved by the Regional Autonomous Corporations associated.
To date, according to a study from the Ideam and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, between 30% and 50% of all wood that is sold in Colombia, is illegal.
Thus, during the 2nd Technical Committee of the project, this year, there were adjustments to this mathematical model with real data that illegality calculated at all times such as harvesting, transport and processing - marketing.
"We hope that the model becomes a tool for decision-making of the CAR, because variables will allow response actions simulate the model to various situations," said Ruben Dario Moreno, director of Forest Governance.
By October, the model will be delivered MINAMBIENTE in order that this onetakes a national decision with the pertinent adjustments.
