Regional Workshop on Social Protection: DAY 3
Discussion details

The workshop on social protection continued yesterday in Naivasha, Kenya. On the basis of the book structure prepared on the previous day, the participants shared out between themselves yesterday each part of the book on social protection in the informal sector and started drafting. These parts are conceptual contributions describing and addressing the various issues of each of the three chapters (legal & institutional frameworks, access to social protection, community-based sfatey nets) or case studies of concrete examples of responses, good practices and lessons learnt, based on the field experience of the participants.

This drafting by a very diverse group of participants coming from numerous countries and professional backgrounds (researchers, NGO practitioners and activists, government officials ...) is both challenging and exciting. In this phase, they are supported by the facilitators of the working groups, the editor of the book to come and a team of expert ressource persons composed of Jacques Charmes (RNSF Research Expert), Pierre Ghilain (European Commission) and Mei Zegers (RNSF Senior Advisor).
As the end of the workshop draws near, we look forward to the outcome of this energizing collective experience!
