PriMed was established in Monte Carlo in 1994 and was then held in different Italian cities (Palermo, Soverato, Syracuse, Civitavecchia, Cagliari, Turin), before putting down roots in Marseille in 2009 at the CMCA.
The Mediterranean Centre for Audiovisual Communication, CMCA, is the main organiser of PriMed. This association, which was established in 1995 in Marseille, is a Mediterranean network of audiovisual cooperation grouping television organisations as well as producers and audiovisual players from the Mediterranean cultural area. Over the years, PriMed has continued to gain momentum. Only last year, the CMCA received over five hundred documentaries.
The audiovisual works submitted must deal with topics related to culture, heritage, history, societies and the life of men and women in Mediterranean societies. They should not contain any form of advertising features or propaganda. Each work can compete in one category only. The Registration of works with PriMed is free of charge.
