From 5th to 7th November 2013, the Universidade Nove de Julho – UNINOVE, of São Paulo, Brasil, will host the IV International Seminar on Education – Theories and Politics, dedicated to “Paulo Freire and Higher Education” - Paulo Freire become world known for its reflexions on education but also and mainly for his intervention on Adult Education field and his book “Pedagogia do Oprimido” (Pedagogy of the Opressed), translated in many languages.
The Seminar houses the final meeting of RIAIPE3 – Inter-university Framework Program for Equity and Social Cohesion Policies in Higher Education in Latin America, an ALFA III Project constituted by 30 research teams of 20 countries of Latin America and Europe*, a circumstance that can only be regarded as a happy coincidence.
The IV International Seminar on Education – Theories and Politics assumes the aim of pointing and disseminate Paulo Freire’s concepts and praxis on Higher Education, in order to identify alternative institutional matrices to the traditional model of Western University and the traditional academic ways of formulating, communicating and applying knowledge.
Furthermore, the seminar’s agenda includes a Magna Conference by Dr. Jacques Chonchol, former State Minister of Agriculture in Chilean Governments of Eduardo Frei and Salvador Allende. In this historic opportunity, Dr. Jacques Chonchol will be delivering the Brazilian Government his friend’s manuscript of “Pedagogia do Oprimido” which he kept since Paulo Freire’s exile in Paris.
