Discussion details

Dear Mei,As discussed, please find below a summary of World Vision's Business Facilitation model for the newsletter:

"Business Facilitation is an economic development project model developed to help beneficiaries to increase household income through the development of profitable, sustainable small businesses (typically micro-enterprises). BF responds to common constraints faced by business owners in developing contexts:
1. Internal barriers relating to an individual’s lack of business competencies to start/run a business; and
2. External barriers relating to the local business environment in which they, and all businesses, operate.
Through the Business Facilitation project model, World Vision engages a Business Facilitator to help business owners in the target community to overcome these constraints via three key interventions:
(i) Supporting a group of business owners (typically called a Community Business Council, or CBC) to collectively create an enabling local business environment;
(ii) Training business owners to build their own business competencies (i.e. skills, knowledge and attitudes);
(iii) Coaching business owners in applying their business competencies, and accessing productive networks and resources."

This project component really resonates with the local communities and feedback has been very positive in all 4 districts.

Best,

Anne
