Textiles produced without harming the environment nor the people manufacturing them are becoming a reality in a model park set up with support from the EU-funded SWITCH-Asia project SUSTEX

Established in Rajasthan, a part of India that is increasingly threatened by water scarcity and where severe pollution has been caused by the traditional textile industry, the Jaipur Park has piloted an innovative and replicable solution that preserves the environment while promoting the traditional craft of "hand block printing" that was slowly disappearing.

In so doing it concurrently generates new training and employment opportunities, especially for women, ensures workers a safer working environment and demonstrates the business case for sustainable products among domestic and foreign consumers.

I  would be interested in contacting women entrepreneurs invovled in this project for an ILO project I am working on to highlight women's leadership in this sector, in particular circular economy and social sustainability.

Thanks
