UN Environment Newsletters

To promote and facilitate sound environmental management for sustainable development, UN Environment’s global and cross-sectoral outlook is reflected in its organizational structure, its activities and its personnel. UN Environment and its various offices have newsletters which they periodically send out. More information on the offices, bodies, agencies, secretariats and divisions – including their newsletters – which are mentioned in this article, can be found here.
1. Regional Offices
UN Environment has six regional offices – the Africa Office; Europe Office; West Asia Office; Asia Pacific Office; Latin America Office; and North America Office – who produce regular regional newsletters.
These newsletters cover regional environmental events and UN Environment’s work in each region, and provide invaluable up-to-date information to keep UN Environment’s partners, including Committee of Permanent Representatives members, informed on outcomes and trends in the regions .

The Liaison Office to the EU Institutions in Brussels, also has a quarterly newsletter called UN Environment Connect (formerly UNEP Connect). You can register from here.
2. Secretariats
UN Environment also hosts several environmental conventions, secretariats and inter-agency coordinating bodies. Below are some examples of the newsletters of such conventions, secretaries and coordinating bodies according to their field of expertise:

Climate Change
- Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) has newsletters, subscribe through mail (bottom of page), latest one here
- Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) has a newsletter, subscribe at bottom of website
- Ozone Secretariat has newsletters which can be found here, latest one here

Ecosystem Management
- Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has a press centre, no more newsletters though (last one was 2009), previous newsletters can be found here
- Convention of Migratory Species (CMS) has no recent newsletters, previous ones can be found here
- Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (IPBES) has newsletters, subscribe here at the bottom, latest one here
- Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has various publications (a wide variety of information), to be found here
- The Nairobi Convention Secretariat (on coastal and marine environments) also has a newsletter, more information here.
- Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA)has newsletters, the last one was from May 2015, and can be found here

Chemicals and Waste
- UN Environment Chemicals and Waste Branch has an example of its newsletter here
- Basel, Rotterdam & Stockholm Conventions (on waste, chemicals and persistent organic pollutants) have one collective (synergy) newsletter here, latest one can be found here
- Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICAM) has no new newsletters (old ones here), last one from 2009, here
- Minamata Convention (on mercury) has email-news list, subscribe here

Sustainable Consumption and Production
- 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10 YFP) has newsletter, all (including the latest ones) can be found here

3. Others
- ACP MEAs (project to assist African, Caribbean and Pacific countries to comply and implement multilateral environmental agreements) Newsletter of 2016 can be found here
- UN Environment Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch has a News Round-up on Disasters and Conflicts, to be found here
- UN Environment Connect is a Brussels focused newsletter connecting UNEP's work worldwide, its qarterly editions are accessible here
- UNDP-UNEP Poverty-Environment Initiative Newsletter shows success stories of UNDP's and UN Environment's cooperation and can be accessed here
