Discussion details

the_guide_0.pngThe new edition updated for 2013, is aimed at supporting EU staff in the delegations and other services in the Commission working in cooperation and development, but it is also relevant to other actors involved in statistical development, cooperation programmes and related initiatives. It has been developed as a result of close cooperation between the European Commission and international stakeholders in statistical cooperation.

This new 2013 edition of the “Guide” incorporates updates related to recent changes in development policy in Europe and in the world with regard to statistical capacity and cooperation. The “Guide” 2013 Edition is more than a mere handbook: it is a dynamic interactive tool, in three languages. It consists of nineteen chapters dedicated to statistics in sector policies, and attempts to gather the key aspects involved when dealing with and supporting statistics as part of development cooperation. To support users to navigate through the various sections of the “Guide” Eurostat has also designed an e-learning course. Further information can be obtained from “Statistics Explained” articles, available on the Eurostat website, in which a number of key concepts related to development and cooperation in statistics are clarified.
