Created 28 May 2018

Following our recent discussion on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), we would like share with you an illustrative video produced by the UNECE on Kiev Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (under the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context, the Espoo Convention), which is open to all United Nations member states and is similar in scope to the European Union directive on SEA (Directive 2001/42/EC).

The Kiev Protocol establishes clear and transparent procedures for integrating environmental and health considerations into national development plans, programmes and legislation in potentially polluting economic sectors as agriculture, energy, industry, transport, urban development, land use, and waste or water management.

The video presents the SEA process, its benefits and its potential as a tool for resource-efficient, low-carbon, and climate-resilient green economies.

Credits: Produced by the UNECE in the framework of the EU funded programme ‘Greening the Economies in the European Neighbourhood’ (EaP GREEN) in order to raise awareness about SEA and promote its use among national stakeholders of the EaP GREEN countries.
