VPA negotiations in Honduras get underway

VPA negotiationsbetween Honduras and the European Commission have started with a formal videoconference. During the videoconference, both parties emphasised the need to continue to improve the representativeness of all stakeholders and to keep everyone informed about FLEGT and the VPA. The scope of the VPA and a very early draft of the timber legality definition were also discussed.

With the financial support of theEU FAO FLEGT programme, the Honduras Forest Institute held four workshops throughout the country to raise awareness about FLEGT and the VPA. Seven more workshops are scheduled to be held by September.
