A week after Lima: what role for women in climate action?
Discussion details
In this voice podcast made available by SciDev.Net, Lakshmi Puri - Deputy executive director of UN Women - answers a number of important questions about the role of women in climate action and the progress made towards reflecting gender in global climate policy.
Ms. Puri emphasises the fact that there is now a standing item on the agenda of the COP on Gender and Climate action, which means that "gender is no longer a peripheral issue coming under other matters, but it is there it its own right". She also highlights the importance of gender mainstreaming every aspect of climate action, and insists that changing mindsets is critical.
