We welcome our newest expert member: Charles Dhewa from Zimbabwe. Charles is the Executive Director of Knowledge Transfer Africa. Click here for more details, please. The organisation works to use information techologies to capture data, analyse and share it. But the work does not stop there, Knowledge Transfer Africa also provides support to use the data in practical and policy planning situations. Innovative ways to capture data include analysis of local food markets using information technologies and call centres for farmers and others. Charles does point out on his own blog that it is important to avoiding seeing farmers and  other rural people simply as data sources during the research process or as passive and obedient recipients of information that is disseminated to them.  Both researchers and knowledge users should collaborate in identifying pressing research questions and conducting research that is integrated with contextual evidence.

We will also do a separate blog post on a recent interesting article the Charles has written about South - South learning.  People interested in directly reading some articles that Charles has written can go to his blog.
