Joy has 30 years of experience in grass-roots projects in Nepal and Tanzania covering sustainable community development and women's empowerment, including income generation/micro-finance and adult literacy.

She also has country experience in the countries of Uganda, Zambia, South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia. A recent interesting activity that she has been working on is the economic empowerment of people working in eco tourism in Nepal. This includes activities such as working with trekking guides.
