I was struck by a comment from an NGO operational frontline colleague last week that almost every month someone was coming to them with a proposal for a new mobile app to assist in their humanitarian work, but that they had no way to judge theIr potential or compartative usefulness. Equally I was struck by an animated conversation around whether 'inter-operability' is a meaningful term in humanitarian action.  I get a sense that we need to better equip ourselves in terms of skill sets and organisational linkages in order to be able to understand fully the benefits that some 'innovation' could bring to the well tried and tested ways of doing business.
