ANGEL Webinar Series: The individual, social cohesion, and democratic citizenship in the age of educational capitalism
Academic Network on Global Education & Learning
Event details
Description
The short webinar by Regis Malet is for Global Education professionals, as well as anyone with a research interest in Development Education, Global Citizenship Education, Human Rights Education, Education for Sustainable Development, Education for Peace, and Intercultural Education. It will address how the growing dilution of the individual in capitalist education is shaping a hyper-individualistic conception of learning and success.
How can public educational institutions both recognize individuals and contribute to the necessary balance between the private and public spheres of human life? The speaker will explore the ideal of democratic deliberation and critical, civic vigilance - values for which education and training are essential tools, aimed at creating conscious, enlightened, responsible and supportive citizens.
