STOA, together with the European Commission and in close cooperation with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), is organising on November 4th the presentation in the European Parliament of the outcome of the IPCC 5th Assessment Report.
Dr Rajendra Pachauri, Chair of the IPCC, will deliver a keynote speech followed by a question and answer session on the implications for the various economic sectors, for society and for policy-making in Europe.
The aim is to provide, just a few days after the official approval by all governments of the highly awaited Synthesis Report of the Assessment at the IPCC Plenary in Copenhagen, the latest scientific assessment on climate change adaptation and mitigation risks, costs and options to EU policy-makers, public and private key stakeholders, and civil society representatives.
The event comes just a few weeks before the Conference of the Parties (COP) meeting in Lima (Peru) that will prepare the 2015 Paris COP, which is expected to deliver a new international climate agreement.
