Conference «Empowering Higher Education Institutions through Information Sharing and Improved Governance»

The World Bank/Center for Mediterranean Integration MENA Regional Program on Higher Education is organizing its 4th International Conference focusing on development of information sharing mechanisms and systems to inform policy makers and practitioners on improving governance and quality assurance in higher education in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region, to be held from May 12-14, 2015 in Beirut, Lebanon.  

 Several international education organizations will be involved as partners (including UNESCO, ISESCO, the International Association of Universities, the Association of Arab Universities and the British Council), as well as the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Universities Association of Lebanon and the most important higher education institutions in the country.

The upcoming conference entitled «Empowering Higher Education Institutions through Information Sharing and Improved Governance» is aimed at encouraging dialogue, stimulating debate and serving as a capacity building exercise. It will focus on development of information to inform policy makers on improving governance and quality assurance (QA) in higher education across the MENA region and beyond. This event will bring together higher education and government representatives, quality assurance agencies, international and regional experts in the field. It will also attract participation from institutional representatives other regions, especially Africa and Latin America.

 The conference will take place over two working days and will include plenary sessions, parallel sessions and workshops. A plenary and reception will precede the conference.

Official languages of the conference will be English, French, Arabic.
