COP28 side event: The role of education and youth in supporting a sustainable future through knowledge, green skills and global citizenship education
European Commission's DG INTPA and the Islamic Development Bank
Event details
Description
How the EU Global Gateway is building resilient education systems: the role of education, teachers, and youth in supporting vulnerable populations for achieving a sustainable future.
The EU Global Gateway strategy is the framework for mobilizing Team Europe around sustainable connections that work for people and the planet.
The education sector is responding to climate change, as it influences human behaviour, identity and worldviews, and changes consumption patterns. Climate change is increasingly disruptive to learning, through extreme weather events, affecting access to learning for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities.
The panel will focus on building resilient education systems to fight the consequences of climate change and the role of education in climate-related policy and planning.
