This course on the intersection between Decentralisation and Local Government and Aid/Development Effectiveness is directed to staff and implementing partners of DeLoG member organisations. Please click here for a full list of DeLoG members.
Specific topics that will be discussed in this training are:
· Local/ Regional development and their linkages to national decentralisation reforms
· Political economy – from theory to practice
· Sector decentralization and systemic approaches
· Equitable and inclusive governance in decentralisation reforms
· Decentralisation and aid effectiveness: joint support options.
A focus will be put on examples from East and Southeast Europe as this is an important implementing region of ADA who will be hosting this course.
The objective of this open course is to enable a structured exchange of information and experiences and lessons learned between practitioners. It will provide a forum for joint learning from successes but also from obstacles in development, reaching a common understanding and allowing the joint identification of possible solutions. As this course is provided by a a donor network, it will offer you the unique possibility to learn from participants with different organizational and regional backgrounds.
Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of decentralisation – in theory and practice. The topics treated in this course will not be suitable for beginners with less than two years of experience in this (or related) fields.
Like all DeLoG courses, this course will be free of charge for participants. Employers only need to provide for travel costs and accomodation. For your convenience, we have reserved a contingent of rooms at Kolping House at the cost of 60 EUR per night.
As places in this course are limited, we would ask you to submit a short paragraph explaining why you would like to take part in the training, who you work for and which position you hold (approx. 150-200 words). Women and participants from South-Eastern Europe are especially encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is February 10th.
