Discussion Panel The Next Generation of Carbon Markets in Latin America and the Caribbean: Strategic Cooperation, Integrity and Implementation
Event details
Description
This high-level panel will discuss the future of carbon markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on how the region is moving from policy design to credible implementation. The conversation will address the role of carbon pricing instruments, the importance of verification, integrity and transparency in MRV systems, and the value of regional cooperation in supporting the next generation of carbon markets, while recognising national circumstances. The panel will take place on 4 June in Monterrey, in the framework of the IETA LACS Climate Summit 2026, with the participation of representatives from DG CLIMA, UNEP, UNFCCC, the United Kingdom, BBVA and Sajoma Climate.
The event is convened by the European Union, through DG CLIMA and its Euroclima programme. Euroclima is co-funded by the European Union, the German Federal Government through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development — BMZ — and the Spanish Cooperation. Implemented in the spirit of Team Europe, the programme strengthens EU–LAC cooperation for a green and just transition under the Global Gateway strategy.
