EC Side Events at South African International Renewable Energy Conference in Cape Town

The European Commission – DG DEVCO is pleased to inform you that it will host 2 side events during the SAIREC 2015 - South African International Renewable Energy Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

SAIREC 2015 is organised by the Department of Energy and SANEDI under the overall guidance of the Government of the Republic of South Africam, and is convened with REN21.

1. 'Rural Electrification Financing Initiative (ElectriFI)'

When: 5th October 2015 18:00-19:30

Where: Room: Exhibition Hall 1, Cape Town International Convention Centre

Objective: This side event will provide participants with more details and practical elements to assist them in the putting together proposals for actions that could be proposed for financing from ElectriFI investments.

2. 'EU and Africa: the Role of Renewables in Energy Security'

When: 6th October 2015 13:00-14:30

Where: Auditorium 1, Cape Town International Convention Centre

Objectives:

• To discuss the critical role renewable energy presents in addressing energy security in Africa and other developing countries.
• Show case efforts that Europe and Africa are making to attract private sector involvement and to facilitate expansion of renewables in Africa and in Europe.
