Electoral Assistance training: Identification and formulation of electoral assistance projects/programs
DEVCO B1/MKS
Event details
Description
The training entitled " Electoral Assistance: Identification and formulation of electoral assistance projects/programs " is to take place from the 13th to the 15th of November 2017 in Brussels.
One of the challenges of electoral assistance is how to fill the gap between 'elections' and 'electoral' assistance, and guarantee a sustainable and durable impact of assistance between one election event and the next. This dilemma focuses on the need to identify, formulate and implement electoral assistance support through an integrated and long-term approach that includes electoral process and institutions as an integral part of a broader democratic process, rather than supporting elections purely as isolated and periodic events.
The main subjects to be tackled during the training are the following:
- The principal criteria for elections, the electoral cycle, the legal/institutional framework, electoral observation missions, electoral dispute resolution and new approaches.
- Real case studies and exchange of best practices: Implementing partners should also be present (UNDP, ECES, IDEA, EISA, and/or others), showcasing practical examples and case studies linked to successful implemented projects, programs.
- Support to domestic observers and to follow up of observers’ recommendations.
