ESDC Climate Change and Security Pilot Course

The course, which is the first of this kind under ESDC, is designed for mid-to-senior level decision makers and/or experts (civilians and military) from the EU Member States, EU Institutions and Agencies. The priority will be given to experts that currently work or will take part in climate change mainstreaming policy development and implementation at the national, EEAS, DG ECHO or DG DEVCO levels, personnel involved in civil protection, disaster management, humanitarian assistance, capacity building and education and training expert, faculty advisers, professors, consultants and analysts.

The course will enhance awareness of climate change security implications through acquisition of basic knowledge related to global warming as a phenomenon and a security threat multiplier, the main factors which affect the environment, and the impact of climate change on international peace and security in short, mid and long term period.
