Event details
Description
Within the framework of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), Spain and Romania jointly offer a course dedicated to the challenges of securing maritime areas for the European Union, which will be held in Constanta (Romania) between 2 and 6 October 2017. The course is co-organised by Centro Superior de Estudios de la Defensa Nacional (CESEDEN) from Spain and the National Defence College (CNAp) the National College of Home Affairs (CNAI) and Mircea cel Bătrân Navy Academy (ANMB) from Romania, with the support of the Romanian Border Police and Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy of the Republic of Bulgaria.
This course will allow participants to get acquainted with diplomatic, institutional, legal and operational issues related to the implementation of the maritime security strategy of the European Union (EUMSS), adopted in 2014. It will be based on concrete examples in areas of strategic interests for the European Union and its Member States (Mediterranean area, Black Sea and Indian Ocean). The course seeks to broaden the discussion by addressing all dimensions of EUMSS, with a special focus on irregular migration in the high sea and piracy.
Open to civil servants and military from EU Member States and relevant EU Institutions and Agencies, the course consists of an eLearning part and a residential session held in Constanţa, both parts being compulsory. Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to benefit from the know-how of European institutions and Members States experts and to network and share views with professionals in the security and maritime issues, building on the European security culture.
It is therefore with great pleasure that Spain and Romania invites you to nominate suitable candidates for the ESDC course The Challenges of Securing Maritime Areas for the European Union. Deadline for registration of participants via the ENLIST registration system of the ESDC is 15 September 2017.
