The EU and Flood Recovery: Lessons Learned for the Next Disaster in Pakistan
Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) - EU
Event details
Description
Following the worst floods in Pakistan’s history the resulting complex needs of the population were supported through various EU assistance measures. One such measure was the EU exceptional assistance measure funded through the Instrument for Stability (IfS) and implemented by Internews Europe and UNDP.
With the project having come to an end a few months previously, the objective of the 26th June event “The EU and Flood recovery: lessons learnt for the next disaster in Pakistan” is for key interlocutors to come together and assess the impact and effectiveness of this action with a view to establishing and agreeing some concrete lessons learned that extend beyond the immediate realms of the project. These would, in turn, serve to inform any future actions for key actors in the region.
The timeliness of the event is of particular pertinence given that the region is now anticipating a further disruptive monsoon season in 2013.
If you are interested, please confirm your attendance sending an e-mail to claire.touron@ec.europa.eu, by 24 June.
You are welcome to contact Ms Claire Touron (02 29 90138) for any questions.
The event will also inaugurate the photo exhibition illustrating the efforts led by the EU Instrument for Stability (IfS) in the context of the Floods Recovery in Pakistan in the last three years. The photo exhibition will be held as of 26 June at the ground floor of the EEAS building, Rond-point Schuman 9A, under the auspices of HR/VP Ashton and of the IfS.
