EU DEAR Programme at the European Youth Event - EYE2023
The European Parliament
Event details
Description
The EYE (European Youth Event) is the European Parliament's flagship event for Youth. It brings together 16 to 30 year olds to interact, inspire each other and exchange their views with experts, activists, influencers and decision-makers, right in the heart of European democracy. With 1000s of people from all over the EU and the world, in-person and hybrid, they will share and shape their ideas on Europe’s future.
At EYE's fifth edition, the EU DEAR Programme will give young people the opportunity to be key agents of change on global issues, such as climate, migration and inequality. EU DEAR projects will offer event participants the chance to learn about food sustainability myths and sustainable food supply chains, reflect on how to encourage youth mobilisation for collective change, and create street actions on global issues. They will also share opportunities on how to act for global change through their pan-European projects.
Four EU DEAR projects will run the following workshops:
- Bringing People & Planet together: Young people are here to help!
- Our Food, Our Future: How to ensure sustainable food supply chains?
- Eat4Change: mobilising youth for sustainable diets
- Empowering youth for climate action: voices from the Food Wave project
In line with Global Citizenship Education, they will all promote critical thinking and active citizenship.
Other event activities are also co-created with institutions, international organisations, civil society and youth organisations, as well as participants themselves. Ahead of the European elections 2024, part of the programme will focus on the role of democracy and youth engagement.
The ideas, expectations and concerns from young people will be collected in the EYE Report distributed to all Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Some participants will further develop the most inspiring ideas and present these directly to the MEPs during the EYE Hearings.
EYE2023 registration is now closed, but you can still participate online or in the EYE Village. More information will be available in the spring at https://european-youth-event.europarl.europa.eu/en/
The EYE strives to promote equality, inclusiveness and sustainability with a strong commitment to accessibility for everyone.
