EULAC2013+ Seminar in Brussels, 26th October at ICHEC

On 26th October, the Seminar “Next steps in EU-LAC cooperation in the fields of Higher Education, Research and Innovation” will take place in Brussels at the ICHEC Brussels Management School.

The Seminar will focus on the Euro-Latin American collaboration in the field of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and on the possibilities of renewing the policy agenda in view of the Santiago Summit of January 2013 as well as of the preparation, at the EU level, of the new programming period 2014-2020. 

The Seminar is a follow up action of the VertebrALCUE project (financed by the ALFA III Programme) and has been designed as a small-scale participative event for high level decision makers and experts in the field, with the aim of broadening the scope from Higher Education, which was the main focus of the VertebrALCUE project and of the ALFA III Programme, to the whole area of the Knowledge Triangle, including Research and Innovation.

 As a starting point for discussion, the Green Paper of the VertebrALCUE project is proposed, which poses integration as the key concept around which to lay a common ground for building an ALCUE space of cooperation (find the Green Paper in English, Spanish and Portuguese at www.vertebralcue.org). 

Ambassador Jorge Valdez (executive director of the EULAC Foundation) and Prof. Giorgio Alberti (coordinator of the VertebrALCUE project) will open the seminar. Relevant organisations have confirmed their participation, including IRELAC, which is kindly offering the location for the event. Also a number of higher education institutions, active in the EULAC cooperation, will participate in the debate besides representatives of several Directorates General of the European Commission.
