European Development Days 2016: Developments in agricultural trade and the Sustainable Development Goals in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries

This session at the European Development Days will highlight insight from experts and engage participants on how current and future trends in agricultural trade and investment, as well as enhanced public-private partnerships, can support development in the poorest countries. Integrating developing countries into global agricultural value chains is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Partnerships and policies supporting regional and international trade have gone a long way towards lifting millions out of poverty and bringing opportunities for inclusive economic growth and social security. However, much more needs to be done to capture the potential for sustainable agricultural trade and a diverse private sector to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
