Expert Group Meeting: Transforming social norms for women’s political participation and leadership
UN Women
Event details
Description
UN Women will convene an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) to explore social norms that impact women’s participation in public life and begin to develop an approach towards addressing these norms and measuring norm change in order to enhance women’s political participation. The EGM will bring together partner organizations and diverse experts and will culminate in a comprehensive report and a set of key messages and priorities including under WYDE | Women’s Leadership. The framework and the outcomes of the EGM will build on UN Women's existing work on changing social norms, applying a tailored approach to understanding the global context of women's political participation. The EGM is expected to codify these norms and identify the drivers of change, providing insights to shape programming as well as communication strategies for promoting women’s political participation and leadership, as well as explore existing ways of measuring social norms. Further, the results of the EGM in articulating the social norms on WPP will be of relevance to the rest of the WYDE programme components.
