The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), are organizing a 3-day training workshop on July 18th-20th, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The objective is to reinforce country capacities on knowledge-sharing and monitoring in the SADC region for improved food and nutrition security through the NEPAD/SADC Food and Nutrition Security Knowledge-Sharing and Monitoring Platform
Knowledge sharing and monitoring platforms help to:
- Share experience and learning anchored around country best practices;
- Facilitate evidence-based decision-making processes for improved Food and Nutrition Security policies and investments ;
- Improve coordination among stakeholders;
- Strengthen mutual accountability and transparency.
Workshop Objectives
The goal of the workshop is to reinforce country capacities in knowledge-sharing and monitoring in the SADC region for improved food and nutrition security and resilience planning and implementation systems. Specifically, the workshop will purpose to:
- Launch the NEPAD/SADC FNS Knowledge Platform, including sharing pilot phase results;
- Share lessons learnt and good practices on knowledge management and information systems;
- Equip participants with requisite skills for optimally using the NEPAD/SADC FNS KM Portal in harnessing, sharing and using information and knowledge for effective design and implementation of FNS initiatives;
- Strengthen capacities on knowledge management and information sharing to support informed decision making and implementation.
