Description
Participate in the World Environment Day:
Join us this at the Forest City Project in Cinquantenaire Park, Brussels
On Monday, 5 June 2017, we will celebrate the World Environment Day (WED) under the theme of connecting People with Nature together with the United Nations and other Forest City Project partners. Join us over the weekend in the Park Cinquantenaire in the green heart of the European Quarter during the annual Brussels Environment Festival (2-4 June) to visit our Forest City Project exhibition and to engage in getting to know UN Environment work.
Encouraging citizens to reconnect with nature, the Forest City Project includes an outdoor photo exhibition with photography by Michel Petillo of the Sonian Forest around Brussels and images from the Carnegie Airborne Observatory (CAO) at Stanford University.
The Forest City Project exhibition is embedded within the Brussels Environment Festival activities and includes a live survey with the UN Environment team about the value of nature. Thierry Lucas, Ecosystems Management regional sub-program coordinator-Europe from UN Environment says:
“For this year's World Environment Day we invite everyone ‘to connect to nature’. This year’s theme invites you to think about how we are all part of nature and how intimately we depend on it. It challenges us to find fun and exciting ways to experience and cherish this vital relationship. We know how trees and forests, especially in urban areas, are essential in maintaining cleaner air, storing CO2 and enhance surrounding landscapes. We believe that the ForestCityProject exhibition is a perfect medium for passing on this message to the many visitors of the Park Cinquantenaire and appreciate being Knowledge Partners of this exciting project. On Sunday 4 June we will invite visitors to share their favorite place in Nature and actively contribute to this global movement for positive action for the environment.”
he Forest City Project exhibition started on 21 March – celebrating the International Day of Forests – and was on display in the Cinquantenaire Park (the green heart of the European Quarter) throughout the spring. The exhibition ends on June 5 – World Environment Day.
