The Major Group of Children and Youth to UN Environment (UNEP-MGCY)
a.k.a
Global Constituency of Youth for Environment (GCYE)
is a group of young individuals and youth organisations that work towards environmental conservation and the representation of young people's voices in governance and conservation processes.
UNEP-MGCY/ GCYE has the role of the official youth engagement mechanism of UNEP. We, therefore, acts as the official group for youth in the negotiations of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) and in any other processes and activities of UNEP.
Recognized and supported by UNEP, we bring together young people from different regions, ethnicity, and economic background and inspires them to take action locally, nationally and internationally towards environmental conservation and environmental governance based on the interest of youth.
Global Youth Environment Assembly is the official youth forum toward the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Environment Assembly (UNEA). The first YEA of 2021 will take place on 12, 13 and 18, 19, 20 February in lead the up to UNEA 5.1.
The Assembly will comprise sessions on variety of environmental topics, interactive segments, regional and thematic breakouts, dedicated plenary sessions and a high-level segments featuring dialogues between environment ministers and youth.
