#GreeningEUcooperation: World Wildlife Day
Event details
Description
Today is UN World Wildlife Day – and the 50th Birthday of the UN Environment Programme (Happy Birthday UN Environment!).
We now know that the future of wildlife hangs in the balance. Early May is crunch time, as a new Global Framework for Biodiversity will be decided. At the first leg of CBD COP-15 in October, leaders adopted the Kunming Declaration, committing to ‘reverse the current loss of biodiversity and ensure that biodiversity is put on a path to recovery by 2030 at the latest’. Here’s hoping the international community commits to the strongest possible framework in the upcoming talks.
In the meantime, be inspired by the work of two excellent programmes supported by EU International Partnerships: Save Our Species and the Sustainable Wildlife Management Programme.
Looking closer to home, have you thought of creating a wildlife pond in your garden?
