The Innovation Jam: Refugee Centered Solutions was a two-day summit on Dec.5th & 6th, 2013 that explored the impact of current innovations for refugees and forcibly displaced persons. The forum facilitated dialogue among the academic, humanitarian, development, public, and private sectors on the challenges facing refugee and humanitarian assistance communities, and the role of innovation in addressing these challenges. The 2013 Jam was co-hosted by Georgetown University, UNHCR Innovation and UNICEF Innovation and was the first in a series of annual Humanitarian Jams.
The closed-door working session on the first day included innovation-focused colleagues from government, humanitarian and development agencies. The second day was open to the public and speakers showcased innovations for refugees and refugee programs. Participants in the open session shared their experience in innovating to serve refugees more effectively, identify new challenges, and forge partnerships to find better solutions.
