The impact of Education on Culture and Identity in Africa



There exists a close relation between education and culture. Education socializes an individual in one way or another and it preserves, transmits and promotes the culture of a society on the other. With most of the formal education in Africa being taught and based on western models, education has continued to, on the one end equip and promote new skills and knowledge and on the other end alienate African cultures and values. After sharing, for the past few weeks, reviews of African book reviews prepared by Bosch Alumni Network members, join us for an hour and half to collectively review the four books they chose. We will be exploring the impact on (formal) education on culture and identity in Africa through African literature.
