Inclusive Green Economy in EU Development Cooperation
DEVCO EuropeAid, Unit C2
Event details
Description
We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming training session on green economy (Syslog number 514778) that will take place in Brussels on February 03.
Progress towards greener economies is increasingly important for EU international cooperation. While the Agenda for Change already stipulated that "EU development policy should promote a ‘green economy’ that can generate growth, create jobs and help reduce poverty", the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development puts greater emphasis on environment sustainability and its links to economic growth, for example through SDG 12 on Sustainable Consumption and Production.
The inclusive green economy training course has been updated, taking into account recent policy developments as well as experience with green economy cooperation on the ground. The course presents the green economy concept, the opportunities brought about by the green economy transformation to achieve development objectives, and it provides practical ideas and tools to apply green economy principles across relevant sectors of cooperation.
Please note that this training targets staff working in many cooperation areas for which green economy and environmental mainstreaming principles are relevant, such as agriculture, private sector development, trade and economic cooperation, infrastructures, natural resources or environment related fields.
The course is aimed at DEVCO staff and DG NEAR staff managing ENI cooperation, both in Delegations and Headquarters, as well as at IPA colleagues working in Delegations.
It is also open, according to availability of seats (i.e. on a 2nd priority), for HQ to colleagues from other DGs and for Delegations to EU Member States representations in the relevant region or country, Development cooperation partners, Government and other national representatives from the country.
Participants from the EC and EEAS should register in SYSLOG as soon as possible.
