InfoPoint conference: Gender transformative approaches to secure land rights | 14:00 - 15:30 CET
Event details
Description

Women have been at the centre of human rights violations worldwide regarding their rights and access to land. To achieve gender equality, it is crucial to secure women’s land rights as well as women’s equal participation and leadership in land governance.
The InfoPoint conference on Gender transformative approaches to secure land rights will highlight good practices and tools to promote gender justice and secure women's land rights, implemented in the framework of specific International Land Coalition (ILC) actions. The conference will also focus on the connection between environmental, social, economic and gender justice and the role women actively play when they have access to relevant tools, resources and knowledge.
This clearly speaks to the EU Gender Action Plan (2020-2025) and its commitment to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment through all external actions of the European Union; in particular with regard to a fair and inclusive green transition, which should include a strong focus on promoting policy reforms towards fair and just land tenure and natural resources management.
The discussion will cover different needs and responses to promote gender justice across different regions (Africa, Asia and Latin America) and ILC-supported interventions (Youth Fellowships, Gender Audits and the Gender Experts Network), including the role of indigenous and young women leaders and male champions.
