InfoPoint Lunchtime conference: Girls’ Education

Education is at the heart of girls’ empowerment and creating a gender transformative culture; it is crucial to ensuring that girls everywhere can reach their full potential. However, despite considerable success in getting girls into primary education, they still fall out of the system at ‘transition moments’ with only a few making it through to tertiary education or vocational training. Added to that, neoliberal economic trends have weakened public education systems, resulting in a growing privatisation of education and rising costs for parents, which could set back the recent advances for girls.
