INTPA Workshop: Security Capacity Building Workshop for Delegations – Central and East Africa

This workshop aims to bring together colleagues in EUDELs and HQ who are working on security issues in Central and East Africa, with the objective of: 

1- Deepening their knowledge and understanding on how to engage with security sector actors to build their capacity for ensuring sustainable development objectives.

2 - Exchanging insights and best practices on specific region/country perspectives, challenges and opportunities. 

Colleagues from EEAS and FPI will also be invited to join the event, in the spirit of ensuring coordination in actions. The workshop will consist of four modules, with content specifically designed to address the unique training needs identified by EU Delegations.

Content:

• Module 1: Current security threats and EU approach to security capacity building through international cooperation and presentation of the major security threats in the region and of the EU’s interventions in the security sector in that given region.
• Module 2: Exchanges on coordination experiences between INTPA, FPI and the EEAS. Presentation by colleagues on good practices on coordination. 
• Module 3: Opportunities and challenges for international cooperation capacity building actions in security: SWOT exercise – What are our strengths and weaknesses to work on security-related topics? What are the opportunities and threats to support the security actors and sector in partner countries? Use of different tools and exercises with the objective of steering the discussion and enriching the learning process.
• Module 4: Sharing of experiences and exchanges of good practices: Presentation of concrete good practices by EUDEL/HQ staff working on security-related programmes. Discussion on past experiences, challenges and concrete actions in support to security actors in partner countries.
