Description
Green growth and international cooperation in the context of new global challenges
The EU co-funded Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is pleased to invite you to take part in session 5 of the OECD Green Growth and Sustainable Development Forum, "Green growth and international cooperation in the context of new global challenges" on 22 November 2023 (11:15 CET).
Global challenges including armed conflict, the pandemic or natural disastern, have greatly disrupted established trade and supply chains. These challenges diverted political priorities and resources from collaborative efforts on green growth towards efforts to stabilize national economies. At the same time, concerns over data security and access to critical materials for green technologies may adversely impact the spread of global value chains.
Yet the rapid rise of AI and digitalisation can provide opportunities for countries to work together more efficiently towards green growth goals if underpinned by effective knowledge sharing, data exchange and collaboration.
This session will bring together five key intergovernmental organizations working on green growth to discuss how socioeconomic and geopolitical changes affect the prospects for international co-operation on green growth and what opportunities can be explored to strengthen it through their joint initiative, the GGKP.
Speakers include:
-
Kumi Kitamori, from OECD, Deputy Director, Environment Directorate
-
Smail Al Hilali, from UNIDO, Officer in Charge, Department of Circular Economy and Environmental Protection
-
Richard Damania, from the World Bank, Chief Economist, Sustainable Development Practice Group
