On Tuesday 28 March at 17h00 the Danish Government and the European Union will co-host a virtual launch of the Digital Democracy Initiative.
The Digital Democracy Initiative is an ambitious new development programme funded by Denmark and the European Union. It builds on a pledge from the Danish Tech for Democracy Initiative and aims to promote and protect democracy and human rights in the digital age.
The Danish Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy, Mr. Dan Jørgensen, and the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Ms. Jutta Urpilainen, will host the launch. As keynote speakers they will introduce the digital democracy agenda and the new Digital Democracy Initiative.
The virtual launch will include a panel discussion with experts and activists.
The panel of experts and activists from CIVICUS, Global Focus, Access Now and Digital Defenders Partnership will tackle the issues that civil society face on the digital front lines of the fight for democracy and human rights.
