A snapshot of the conference: Challenges for Global Education
Established in 2002, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) works in 60 developing countries. Strategically, the Global Partnership for Education focuses on supporting education in fragile and conflict-affected countries, promoting girls' education, increasing basic numeracy and literacy skills in primary school, improving teachers’ effectiveness and help expanding external and domestic financing for education.
How can the Global Partnership contribute to meeting the Millennium Development Goal for education? How does the Global Partnership work with the EU and other donors and partners? What are the lessons learned from the Global Partnership’s 2014/15 Results for Learning report?
Let's try to respond to these questions and explore the new challenges of global education.
Coordination between GPE, World Bank and the EU in Nicaragua
Currently, the GPE, the World Bank and the EU are the three main donors supporting the implementation of the Education Sector Plan in Nicaragua. These partners have been working together to foster effective monitor and review mechanisms, such as joint supervision missions, and are making considerable efforts to harmonise their interventions. Part of this joint effort has included the elaboration of a single Communications and Visibility Plan for the GPE/EU/World Bank interventions. The following video shows how this coordination is working at the country level. It was prepared by the Ministry of Education with the collaboration of the WB education experts, press officers and the EU cooperation advisor and the Press and Communications Section.
