European Commission, DG Development and Cooperation-EuropeAid, Unit C.1, Rural Development, Food Security, Nutrition
Event details
Description
Organic food and farming market in the EU has shifted from niche to segment market.
While supply chains, both in the EU and in Third countries, are getting more and more complex, there is an increasing need to guarantee genuine organic products to consumers, and fair economic return from the market to producers.
The aim of this presentation is to explain the latest developments in the EU organic sector and the future thinking on domestic (EU) markets and imports.
As there is an increased interest from third countries to export organic products to the EU, what are the challenges at EU level, of farmers in third countries, and what is the role of the value chain – certifiers, retailers, amongst others?
