Pre- meeting of the IAG for the African Working Group

Dear colleagues,

In a telephone conference of the troika of the Africa Working Group of the EU Water Initiative it has been concluded that this would be a good opportunity to express a joint AWG position on the design of the new facility. Building on the results of the AWG mapping of aid study, the AWG / AMCOW sanitation statement and individual experiences recommendations for the WF set-up and management could be formulated.

To facilitate the development of a joint position the AWG troika suggests an exchange of thoughts before the IAG meeting. Therefore, a pre-meeting has been scheduled from 10.30 until 13.00 hrs on the same day. A meeting room has already been booked at DG Dev for that purpose (Rue de la Science 15, 3rd floor, room Aquarium).

We would appreciate if you could express your views on that and whether you or a colleague of yours would participate in this meeting.

Please send your reaction before 27 March!

Furthermore it might be helpful to collect views on the new WF already in advance via email. Even if you are not intending to come to the meetings you may want to express ideas, special concerns or contribute to the basic principles. If so, please also send them in as quickly as possible to Thomas. The AWG will screen the issues raised and put the major concerns in the AWG discussion forum for consideration towards a common position.
