Description

🔗 Organisers: IGD (Institut pour la Gouvernance et le Développement) & CIS (Centerpartiets Internationella Stiftelse)
This event presents the findings of a comparative study on the legislation and public financing of political parties in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire, conducted under the WYDE Political Parties Project. The study explores how national legal frameworks affect the political participation of women and youth, particularly in terms of party formation, access to public funding, and representation in electoral processes.
The event brings together around 30 key actors from political parties, public institutions, electoral commissions, media, research institutions and civil society, creating an inclusive space to reflect on the findings and contribute with feedback. These inputs will be used to finalise the study and inform future advocacy and policy reform.
Objectives of the Study
- Assess to what extent legal frameworks support youth and women’s participation in political parties and elections.
- Analyse the public financing mechanisms for political parties and how they impact inclusion.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in the current systems.
- Provide concrete policy recommendations to advance more inclusive legislation.
Expected Outcome
The event promotes knowledge sharing, stakeholder ownership of the study’s recommendations, and helps shape a roadmap for more inclusive political systems in both countries. The final version of the study will integrate participant feedback and be used as a tool for ongoing advocacy under the WYDE programme.
