The Reference Group on Infrastructure meeting scheduled on 24-25 April 2017

In the run-up to the 5^th Africa-EU Summit, the European Commission in partnership with the African Union Commission is convening the meeting of the Reference Group on Infrastructure (RGI) on 24 and 25 of April, at The Hotel, Boulevard de Waterloo 38, B-1000 Brussels, Belgium.

The Reference Group on Infrastructure (RGI), which is mandated under the Joint Africa-EU Strategy to steer strategic Infrastructure policy orientations and cross sectoral coordination, aims to address the cooperation challenges and priorities arising from the Agenda 2030, the African Agenda 2063 and the proposed 2017 New European Consensus on Development through the lenses of energy, transport, water & sanitation and ICT.

The key objective of the RGI meeting is to develop the 2018-2020 strategic infrastructure roadmap that best responds to the challenges of job creation, investment & economic development, governance, urbanisation, resilience & climate change.

The meeting aims to bring together both African and European partners: the European and African Union Commissions, Members States of Africa and the EU, European and International Financing Institutions, African Regional Economic Communities and Sectoral/Thematic Institutions.

The event will be organised through both plenary and specific sectoral break-out groups in the energy, transport, water and ICT domains.

Dans le cadre du 5^e sommet Afrique-UE, la Commission européenne et la Commission de l’Union africaine accueilleront la réunion du Groupe de référence sur les infrastructures (GRI) les 24 et 25 avril, à The Hotel, Boulevard de Waterloo 38, B-1000 Bruxelles, Belgique.

Conformément à la stratégie conjointe Afrique-UE, le Groupe de référence sur les infrastructures est chargé d’orienter la politique du partenariat en matière d’infrastructures et la coordination intersectorielle. Il vise à relever les défis en matière d'énergie, de transport, d’eau et d’assainissement, et des TIC, dans le cadre des priorités telles que définies dans l'Agenda 2030, l’Agenda 2063 de l’Union africaine et la proposition concernant un nouveau consensus européen pour le développement.

Le principal objectif de la réunion GRI consiste à élaborer la feuille de route stratégique 2018-2020 en matière d'infrastructures, répondant aux défis de la création d’emplois, de l’investissement et du développement économique, de la gouvernance, de l’urbanisation, de la résilience et du changement climatique.

La réunion regroupera la Commission européenne, la Commission de l’Union africaine, les États membres des deux continents, des institutions financières européennes et internationales, les Communautés économiques régionales africaines ainsi que des institutions sectorielles/thématiques.

L’événement comportera une session plénière ainsi que des sessions thématiques qui aborderont les domaines de l’énergie, du transport, de l’eau et des TIC.
