Under the umbrella of the WYDE | Women’s Leadership initiative—funded by the EU and implemented in close partnership with International IDEA, IPU, and UCLG—UN Women is hosting its first intergenerational Regional Intergenerational Dialogue: From Past to Power, Women’s Political Leadership Across Generations in Europe and Central Asia.
The regional dialogue will bring together women office-holders, CSO representatives, young women leaders, activists and researchers as well as representatives from the EU, Generation Equality Feminist Movements and Leadership Action Coalition, UN Women and WYDE | Women’s Leadership partners who will actively engage in framing the current challenges to women’s participation and political and public life and propose solutions through unpacking key themes:
- Reflections on lessons learned on women’s leadership and planning for the future
- 30 years since Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action
- Advancing young women’s political leadership through intergenerational collaboration
- Advancing gender equality through legal frameworks and special measures
- Building political will and strengthening networks and coalitions as countervailing power to the pushback on gender equality and trends of democratic backsliding
- Youth-led insights and expert perspectives on transforming social norms to advance women’s political participation
