Event details
Description
We would like to inform you about the training dedicated to traditional ecological knowledge holders and experts, organized in the framework of the Horizon Europe COOP4CBD project.
Led by The French Museum of Natural History (MNHN) with the support of the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), this training will be delivered the 11th and 12th June 2025 in Trondheim, Norway.
More precisely, these two days will focus on the importance of Traditional knowledge and the role of TEK holders and experts in the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) governance and processes. The CBD governance and support structures to be explored include:
- the newly established subsidiary body for Indigenous People and Local Communities;
- the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA);
- the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES);
- the new Technical and Scientific Cooperation Centres.
A core aim behind the event is to provide some practical advice on strengthening the participation and mobilisation of TEK holders as well as civil society and academia closely engaged in TEK within CBD processes. This effort will be supported by dedicated practical exercises as part of the training.
If you are a TEK holder or expert interested in the CBD processes and you would like to deepen your knowledge, we invite you to register via this form.
We inform you that a selection will be made through the registered persons, since the number of places is limited. The detailed program will be sent by e-mail to the selected participants in the coming weeks.
Nota bene: the travel, accommodation and meal expenses incurred by attendees in relation to the training will be covered by CO-OP4CBD.
